The real difference between the trick and illusions is that the trick is an intellectual challenge between the viewer and the magician, if you figure out the trick, you won. If you don’t figure out the trick you just a kind of annoyed and it’s just a trick. An illusionist can take the very same trick and a kind of defuse the intellectual challenge by raping in a mystery, in a story, in metaphor, in symbolize and in the allegory and create a piece of theatre and bring you in. ——Jeff McBride
